The Big Smile UK Jervaulx Journey

24. A Jervaulx Journey

Date: 22/07/2021

Meeting Point: Abbey Tearoom, Jervaulx, Ripon, HG4 4PH

We begin this stage in the grounds of the ruined Jervaulx Abbey, one of the great Cistercian abbeys of Yorkshire.

Shortly after we set off, we pass Jervaulx Hall, before heading out over open land, looping round Masham Bank to Ellingstring, and following country lanes until we enter woodland, eventually crossing Deep Gill.

Passing East Witton, we cross over the River Cover and head towards Middleham, before turning back and following the river as it winds round to join the River Ure. We then head back to our starting point at Jervaulx Abbey to complete our walk.
