Bearpark

Beginning at the Bearpark Community Garden, the walk quickly leaves urbanisation to reach open countryside, farmlands and woodlands. This route follows surfaced tracks, open grasslands and enters into the tranquillity of woodland footpaths. This longer 6 mile walk takes around 2 hours to complete. There’s places to stop along the route including picnic areas at Broom Park or there is a delightful cafe by the fishing ponds. We’d also recommend taking a short detour after crossing the first bridge, following a marked footpath to visit the ruins of Beaurepaire Manor House, a mediaeval country retreat for the Priors of Durham. Then simply retrace your steps to rejoin the walk.
