Beginning at the Newbiggin Lane entrance to the Lanchester Valley Railway Path, this walk forms a figure of 8 route. It initially follows the railway path before veering off to track the Smallhope Burn as it winds through Dora's Wood. The route then continues along the path until it ventures through the Malton Nature Reserve, circling around Biggen Farm before returning to the Lanchester Railway Path. The walk ends with a final detour from the path taking you through Lanchester Village.
